Rush Over to Mount Rushmore in 2018

South Dakota’s Black Hills have no shortage of natural beauty. But it’s the man-made wonder— Mount Rushmore —that has captivated people for more than 70 years. And now you can enjoy the majesty of the site while luxuriating in nature within the safari-style tents Under Canvas will pitch almost under the noses of the four presidents.

As glamping grows, so does Under Canvas

As GLAMPING.COM adds Under Canvas Mount Rushmore (opening in the Keystone, SD area of the Black Hills National Forest for the 2018 season) to our exclusive collection of glamping sites, Under Canvas keeps growing. In addition to the five properties included in our collection, watch for more of their glamping sites popping up near the Great Smoky Mountains and Grand Canyon National Parks.

Glamping arrives in South Dakota’s Black Hills just in time for Summer of 2018. Enjoy the luxuries of glamping while viewing Mount Rushmore.

As Under Canvas co-founder Sarah Dusek noted in the Hill City Prevailer News, the Mount Rushmore site “offers the perfect backdrop for families, couples and solo adventurers who are looking to explore the endless activities in South Dakota’s backyard.

Basecamp for exploring the Black Hills

Viewing the massive salute to former presidents is the beginning of those activities. Experiencing nature is a matter of striking out on a hike beyond the deck of the tent. Wildlife watching—particularly the pronghorn antelope, wild burros and the large buffalo herd—makes for an exciting day. As does exploring the authentic Old West on horseback, much the way Wild Bill Hickok once did.

Visitors to the new Under Canvas Mount Rushmore may also take advantage of customizable itineraries. The activities include a Buffalo Safari Jeep Tour, rock climbing and panning for gold near the classic gold mines.

After all that fun, retreat to luxurious accommodations (tents sleep from two to eight people, depending on tent size). And you won’t have to look far for a good meal. The on-site restaurant lets you enjoy a relaxed breakfast, grab a packed lunch for glampers on the go or even choose a pioneer-inspired dinner.

In this awe-inspiring place where gold miners once plied their trade, and traffic jams are caused by ambling buffaloes, Under Canvas Mount Rushmore offers you a great escape from the ordinary.
